How do you choose the right hoodie for personalisation?

There's more to it than just picking a colour you like. The style, weight and decoration method all affect how the finished hoodie looks and wears, so it's worth thinking through a few things before you place an order.

Style

What the hoodie is for, and where your design sits on it, usually decides the style. A pullover works best if you want a large design across the back – no zip breaking up the print area. Zip-fronts suit workwear and team kit better, since they're quicker to put on and take off during a shift or match. And if you want something a bit more current, the oversized, chunky-fit hoodies have become genuinely popular over the last year or two – that relaxed streetwear look.

Fit and sizing

We carry unisex, men's, women's/fitted, and kids' sizes. Check the size guide before ordering, especially for school leavers or team orders – a size run that's slightly off is one of the more common reasons for reprints.

Fabric weight

Anything in the 280–320 gsm range is lighter and more breathable, which suits layering or wearing indoors. If you need something warmer and more durable, consider the 350–400+ gsm heavyweight fabrics; the Gildan Heavy Blend is a popular choice because it withstands repeated washes.

Print or embroidery

Screen printing is the better value option for bigger runs and handles bold colours and text well. Embroidery costs a bit more but gives a smarter, more durable finish – it's what most of our corporate and left-chest logo orders use. A fair number of customers combine the two: a printed design on the back, an embroidered logo on the front.
